Hello, everybody! My name is Corina Gicu, I'm 33 years old and I work at a big Italian company as a secretary. I wear almost everything, from skirts and blouses to jeans. I have a passion for designer bags and designer shoes. And I live in Italy -- basically The Fashion Country!
Where do you live, and what trends are big there?
I live in a small town by the Adriatic Sea, Porto Recanati. It’s a beautiful place to live that gets really crowded in the summer. A lot of tourists come here for the summer. Italians have a big passion for color. These days, you see colorful looks everywhere. And a lot of stripes also -- black and white ones. I have to say, the way Italians wear scarves, well, nobody [can compare]! Wonderful! You can recognize [an Italian] by the way he/she wears them!
What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?
My favorite designer would be Gucci for an everyday look. It's so glamorous yet comfy and sassy! So chic, and the fabrics they use are wonderful. I love Gucci blouses and dresses. And here in Italy, in Florence, there is an outlet where everything costs less, up to 70% off! Can you ask for more? For bags, I prefer Louis Vuitton because it's always in fashion and everlasting. You buy it today and it's in for the next 20 years! And it's cheaper than Chanel or Hermès! For shoes and belts, I love Gucci. Even their high heels are so comfortable to wear. Love them!
Which celebrity do you think has great style and why?
I love Olivia Palermo's style! She’s always dressed so well and perfectly coordinated. She really has good taste! And here in Italy, there is Chiara Ferragni with her famous fashion blog, The Blonde Salad. She has great style. She mixes everything so well and is never overdressed.
What are your personal aspirations/goals?
I would really like to work in the fashion business. Before working as a secretary I used to work in a fashion store, and I really loved that experience. This summer I will start a window dressing course. I would really like to do that, even as a second job, because fashion is my passion!
How has Polyvore affected your life?
I have to say that Polyvore is a beautiful and very positive experience! I absolutely love this fashion community! I discovered your website by chance. My friend talked to me about it and, at first, I only looked at what others were doing. I was spying! Then, one day, I decided that I wanted to be a part of it, so I signed in. It took me some time to figure out how it worked, but, as they say, practice makes perfect. In time, I got better and created my own personal style.
Describe your personal sense of style.
Well, my style is simple, yet edgy and elegant. I love mixing styles and having fun while doing it because that's what fashion is all about! It gives you so many possibilities to create and mix!
How would you describe your set style?
My set style is a classic one. I love a clean layout that lets viewers see all the details. Even the square shape I choose for my sets is classic, but it's meant to let others see better all the details and images I put in it. Details make the difference!
How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?
I sign on almost everyday! And the first thing I do is check out the other members’ latest work. I'm fascinated by all those wonderful sets! Some members have great style! Then I look for new items for my own sets.
